A camcorder (camera recorder) is used for recording video and audio. There might be a question that I can record video on with my DSLR, Mirrorless or even with Point-and-Shoot Digital Cameras, then why camcorder? Its right, these days you can record video with any of these cameras. But the main purpose of any other camera is not to record video. They are designed to take still images and video is just an extra feature. If your purpose is to record extended hours of continues video recording, then definitely go for a camcorder rather than doing the same with other cameras which can damage the sensor of the camera faster.
