The thought behind this post is a question "Are you planning to buy a UHD TV or a smart TV?" Well these days when technology is overloaded, it is frustrating and difficult to follow the very dynamic and fast-changing face of it. Those who know about the technology will find the question as a stupid one. For them, the question is similar to "Do you want 8-inch pizza or cheese pizza?".

So let us know about the technology a bit which helps to find the right fit TV.

Open this link Television & Video and we'll go through the options one by one to understand what are they. At the end of this post, hopefully, you will be able to do the right selection of your TV. If you have any questions, please shoot it in the comment section either in this blog or in our Facebook post.

It's sad that the terminologies in the consumer electronics world is very confusing and its very hard for a common man to understand which is what. So let's forget about all the technologies behind these terminologies to make life easier. There are 2 Ultra Definition TVs in the market, which are UHDTV-1 and UHDTV-2.
UHDTV-1 is 4K and UHDTV-2 is 8K.

Though 4K and UHD are two different things, in the consumer world the UHDTV-1 is called as 4K UHD. And UHDTV-2 is called as 8K UHD. So when you see the option 4K Ultra HD TV in any shopping site, it means this option is going to list out the TVs that are categorized under UHDTV-1.

We often see and hear this word these days, but don't get shocked by it by imagining a huge TV or technology overloaded device. This word 'Smart TV' has nothing to do with its display technology, size of the screen or even expense. Imagin your TV is acting like your smartphone. Means You are able to connect to the internet, browse websites and able to download apps to extend the features. Then we can call it a Smart TV. Of course, you won't be able to make normal phone calls with TV. So don't imagine too much. Now imagine a CRT Smart TV. Is it even possible? The answer is of course yes. As mentioned above, the display technology really doesn't matter. As long as the TV can perform the above-mentioned features it's a Smart TV.

The curved screen is there from the days when cinema started. The screens in cinemas were curved for the best viewing experience. In this digital world curving the screen was the only option replicate the same experience.Usually, this curved screens can be found on a TV of 40-inch size or above and it comes with a bit higher price tag. Its recommended to think about this option only if you are going for a large screen size, ideally 55-inch or above. On small screens, the curve won't make much difference.

This is not another technology or feature. Don't get confused that this is another option in the distinguished category. All the above-mentioned TVs are LCD TVs. Well, there are other display technologies available in the market (Eg: Plasma, CRT etc). But LCD is what mostly available in the consumer market these days. Basically LED TVs are also LCD TVs, but for lighting up the screen LED lights are used in LED TVs. That is the reason why it is known as LED TV.

5. OLED TVs

Organic Light-Emitting diode (OLED) is the latest one in the series. OLED is the other technology for display just like LED and LCD. But OLED comes with a bunch of benefits. This technology allows having a very thin back panel. So TVs which uses OLED technology are relatively sleek in size. Also, they are energy efficient.

Hope this article helped to understand the basics of the technology to find your right television. Now if someone asks you 'Are you planning to buy a UHD TV or a smart TV?'. Then you can ask them back 'You are buying 8-inch pizza or cheese pizza for me?'
